Implementing Media Into Your Website Design:
Here is a pressing question when designing your website. How much multimedia should I include? I think that this depends on what type of site you have. A little multimedia goes a long ways in most industries sites. However there are some industries may want to be a little heavier on the media side. A church for instance may have rolling announcements and/or a flash header with some pictures or video of the church. This brings the audience into the church without them ever entering the 4 walls.
Many sites overuse media however. A song when you enter the website for instance gets old after a minute or two. Too many moving parts may be distracting from the message you are trying to get across. It can also give a cheesy feel that reminds one of someone who cakes up makeup to go to Mcdonalds. The key here is that your website design needs to be tastefully done.
When the web first became popular in the 90's it was the cool thing to have a bunch of stuff moving around. Today that sometimes would be the equivelant of a '72 gremlin. In the 70's it was cool to have one of those hot rods...especially a green one. Today that is not so. Why ride in a gremlin when you can have an up to date website design made just for your particular business. The web has changed tremendously over the last few years and it continues to evolve. The onle thing most premium website designers will agree on though is that the Gremlin is never coming back in, and neither are those cheesy websites.
Don't get "cheezed"...with an old website that moves around with no purpose. Make up your mind you are going to get a premium website design company to do your site the right way the first time!
