| First you may ask yourself ... What is a sitemap? A sitemap is the general layout of your links and pages in your website. When you build a house you need to build the foundations first. The sitemap or link structure of your new website is the foundations of your website. You will not want to tear this down later as you add more content but rather it is best to set it up so that you can build on it later without a lot of extra hassle or time. This is the advantage of using a content management system like ours when building your website. It is suppose to make it easier for you to edit, add, or deete things without re-inventing the wheel every time. In a website you will have what we call TOP LEVEL links and SUB LEVEL links.
Below we will show you a sites menu and then a sitemap layout to better explain: Here is an example site:
1. TOP LEVEL linksNotice on the site the menu area:
The links above are what we call TOP LEVEL LINKS 2. SUB LEVEL links
Lets look at what is under the top level links
Notice the brown menu that is "dropping down" from the main menu... these are SUB LEVEL links.
You can even have SUB SUB Menu links, but normally one level is sufficient. Before we can structure your site appropriately we need to come up with a sitemap. This is very important and should be well thought out.
FAQ's About Sitemaps
After your site is live on one of our demo servers the sitemap is the first step to getting your site live. We will build it for you to start and then you will be given access to add the content onto the demo server before it goes live.
